The first of the large images from my new collection in Autumn 2025 titled ‘SOLACE’ After a period of deep grief and sense of loss, the pasing of my mother, losing my studio and my fading eyesight I realised that I find solace in my creativity and work. When I paint I lose myself and the pain is pushed to one side and little by little it fades, some emotions never go away but there comes a time when you can live alongside those deep feelings that can almost drown you. In art I can always find beauty and peace, I never know how it will manifest but then from somewhere, that unknown place, the hand is moved and picks up a brush, a palette knife, a tube of colour and the process begins.

Homage to Warhol in Black & White with a touch of Yellow Framed 164cm x124cm

This was the first piece I created in my new studio in the emblematic Edifici Freixas in Barcelona. It’s a protected space for artists and creatives. This collage of my paint tubes from the past two years shows the culmination of multiple paintings fro m 23/24/25. The idea of the shot of yellow came from the roundabouts and colours of Brittany in France. Their flag is Black and white but the bouys out to sea and on shore are a beautiful bright yellow and I find the combination so happy and fun.

This piece is the second in a series of collated artworks that I created after the pandemic. I rarely throw anything away and realised that a couple of years of paint tubes made a wonderful composition. There is a Pop-Art element whereby I'm elevating the ordinary by repetition and adding a frame create a work of art. The first piece I made which was titled #totanirabé (Everything will be alright) became my response after months of being enclosed in the studio. I also like the connection this piece has to all the paintings I've made over the years. It is a very personal piece and holds many memories for me.
